Description

Pozieres is primarily remembered as an Australian Battle and was the first major action in France involving the predominantly Tasmanian 12th Australian Infantry Battalion. During WW1, the 12th Battalion suffered 1135 killed and 2422 wounded. Following the service a community afternoon tea will be available at no charge. Banners depicting WW1 Honour Boards will be on display. In the words of Australian Military Historian Charles Bean - The Pozieres ridge "is more densely sown with Australian Sacrifice than any other place on earth". Download flyer.
