Private Thomas Ohlson

Private Thomas Oscar Ohlson was the son of Olaf and Hilda Ohlson, of Adventure Bay, Bruny Island.  Private Ohlson enlisted on 17 January 1916 at the age of 19 and embarked from Australia on 29 March 1916 aboard RMS Orontes.

Private Ohlson served in France and was reported missing in action on 8 September 1916.  Private Jack O’Neill reported Private Ohlson was killed at Mouquet Farm on 4 September 1916 “a shell caused the casualty”.

Private Ohlson is commemorated at Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.

Private Ohlson’s brother, Olaf Ernest Ohlson, also served in World War One.
