Private Olaf Ohlson

Private Olaf Ernest Ohlson enlisted on 8 March 1916 at the age of 21. He was the son of Olaf Ohlson of Adventure Bay.

Private Ohlson embarked from Hobart on 1 July 1916.  He contracted influenza on 29 August 1916 and was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital. He proceeded overseas on 24 January 1917 and was wounded in action 26 February 1917, in Boulogne, with gunshot wound in the foot.  He was reported as dangerously ill and died on 6 March 1917.

Private Ohlson’s remains are interred Boulogne Eastern Cemetery Plot 8 Row R Grave 172. Private Ohlson’s brother, Thomas, was killed in action at Mouquet Farm, in France.
