Hobart celebrating Victory in the Pacific 1945

People in Hobart were overjoyed by the news the Second World War was over and celebrated in the city streets.

The Sites of Significance Then and Now project compares significant sites around Australia in 1945 and 2020 for Australia Remembers 75 years since Victory in the Pacific.

The excitement was a traffic stopper. Crowds joined in the commemoration in Macquarie Street outside Hobart Town Hall.
