Welcome

The Centenary of ANZAC 2014 to 2018 was an important period of national commemoration for Australia as it marked 100 years since our involvement in World War One. 15,000 Tasmanians enlisted in World War One, and sadly 2,432 never came home.

The Centenary of ANZAC commemorated the service and sacrifice by Australian service men and women in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

The Tasmanian Government encouraged Tasmanians to commemorate and participate in this significant occasion by hosting events and activities or by sharing stories of personal family war history.

The Centenary of Anzac project is now closed but this website remains an important commemorative and educational resource to remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars.

On Sunday 11 November 2018, we remembered the 100th anniversary of the signing of the World War One Armistice, the historic agreement that led to the end of the War.
