Anniversaries such as Victory in the Pacific Day remind us of the importance of remembering and recording. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific, the Department of Veterans Affairs website is featuring recordings of Australians sharing their memories of the Second World War.
One of recordings is by Doone Brewer, who later became the first female Lord Mayor of Hobart, Alderman Doone Kennedy AO. In the recording, Doone discusses clothing shortages and her mother's resourcefulness at using materials to clothe six children.
