Albert Herculean Augustus Pearce

Albert Herculean Augustus Pearce was killed after only 34 days of action.

Albert was born in Hobart Tasmania on 7 May 1887 to parents George Pearce and Mary Ann Featherstone. Albert later moved to New Zealand to follow work and it was here where he met the love of his life, Ivy Lydia Mary Nelder. The couple married on 28 November 1910 and shortly after moved back to Tasmania. In Tasmania they had two children, Albert Edward George and Ivy Annie Louisa.

On 20 March 1916, Albert enlisted in Claremont and later embarked on 1 July 1916 from Hobart on board the HMAT Berrima.

Albert was Killed in Action on 7 January, 1917 in France and is buried in Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery and his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial.  Albert Pearce  is also remembered at the Soldiers Memorial Avenue, Queens Domain, Hobart.

Albert was awarded the British War Medal & the Victory Medal.
